This piece is truly a masterpiece in artistry.  It is designed in this shape so that the ashes can be transferred intact from the temporary box in which they are placed by the funeral director or crematorium.

The Traditional Wooden Box Urn is hand-crafted in ribbon striped mahogany. The raised panel top, also made of ribbon striped mahogany, features alternating silky oak and native North Carolina walnut trim. The underside of the lid includes two runners and  a picture frame made of Brazilian rosewood. This model uses a photograph, however a funeral program or anything else that matches its dimensions 8.5" x 11" can also be displayed in this space.

Each piece is custom made, and hand-rubbed with an environmentally friendly finish to protect it from moisture. The lid can be made to display the photo on the outside or inside of the box. Alternatively, the photo side can be left up for the memorial service, and flipped over later.  The versatility of this piece is wonderful!

This particular box allows room for favorite mementos, such as photos, letters, or jewelry. Our Traditional Wooden Box Urns are made to order. They can be made in any size. A variety of woods is available, including solid mahogany, solid walnut, a combination of walnut with silky oak inlay. Other woods are available upon request when accessible.
