All of James’ orbs are created with a process known as fuming. He creates colors within objects by using precious metals such as 24 karat gold and silver. It is a labor and time consuming process similar to steam rising out of boiling water and condensing on a relatively cooler plate held above. The ‘water’ is 24k gold or silver which ‘condenses’ on the art piece and is covered in multiple layers of clear Borosilicate glass to produce an incredible finished piece.
